Eat Boston

Here are some of the places that we have tried in Boston.  If you make it here these places are pre-approved by us and a must if you are hungry and in the neighborhood.

Finale 617-423-3184 **
1 Columbus Ave, Boston, MA
This Harvard Business School inspired dessert only restaurant serves eat in or take out.  You can watch the chefs assemble your order into a finale creation. Reservations are a good tip.

Bob the Chefs 617-536-6204 ***
Fried Chicken and BBQ ribs, need I say more? ok if you want corn-beef hash and dessert too.  Plus a live Jazz band every day of the week.  Not bad for a place on the corner.  Picture of us and Ray

Thai Binh Market 617-426-2771 ****
15 Beach St. Chinatown, Boston
This asian market is the home to the best eight inch sandwich in Boston.  Cold cuts, BBQ beef or chinese sausage, served with pickled carrots, cilantro, radish and cucumbers and spicy chili oil with green onions on fresh french bread.  Did I mention it is only $2, folks will line up out the door and order 1 or 2 dozen sandwiches to go.  We ordered "two please".

Betty's Wok & Noodle 617-424-1950 ***
250 Huntington, Boston, MA
A diner atmospher with asian noodles and latino spices and sauces.  How do you combine all this for a great meal?  Well the secret is you combine all these to your taste and Betty's will serve it up for you.  In California, Eurasian retaurants are a dime a dozen in Boston this Latino-Asian place is a must try.  I liked the Kung-Pau spicy noodle.

The Olde Hitching Post 781-447-2592
48 Spring St. Route 58, Hanson, MA
the best Sunday Brunch just outside of Boston for under $15.  The selection, desserts and atmosphere was worth the trip.  Roast beef, pesto pasta, lobster bisque and chocolate covered creme puffs.  Perfect brunch for a guest or special occasion.

Blue Ribbon BBQ 617-332-2583 ****
1375 Washington St. Newton, MA 02465
OK for the price and taste this tops Redbones.  Though it is not a sitdown you can pull up a chair to the counter seating.  But the ribs, beef and chicken tastes as good as the aroma.  Take out is their specialty.  In a word awesome!

Redbones BBQ 617-628-2200 ***
55 Chester St. Somerville, MA 02144
Excellent Ribs, great family atmosphere, good bar and famous beer wheel.  Casual dress and price.  The BBQ smell will keep you and the taste will make you come back.  Yum says... get the Flan! for dessert.

Capital Grille 617-262-8900  ****
359 Newbury St. Boston, MA
Aged beef is the way to eat steak.  Here it is on display in the case as you walk in.  The steak is charred on the outside and cooked to your taste on the inside.  Get the potatoes and onion fries with your steak.  It is noisy when busy but the atmosphere is posh and service is excellent. Cost is expensive

China Pearl 617-426-4338 ****
9 Tyler St. Boston, MA
Best Dim Sum in Boston.  Elaine took us here are we are forever grateful.  It is hard to find.  A door with stairs leading up above the sign is all you will get.  The Dim Sum is in the "best you will ever have" category and the price is very inexpensive.  $10 a head will be overdoing it.  If you love Dim Sum you must go here.

Charlies Saloon 617-266-3000 ***
284 Newbury Boston, MA
Another Newbury restaurant Charlies or "Sharkies" as Steve calls it has a very nice atmosphere with dark cherry veneer.  The clam chowder bowl will break your mouth and the Scrod is great.  Price is moderate and the location is great.

Penang 617-451-6373 ****
57 JFK Street, Cambridge, MA
685 Washington, Boston, MA
Oh, you had Thai, Chinese, but Malaysian is a notch up.  Try the Pad Thai and the "House" Crab... yes Dungeness crab with their special sauce, mmm! Unique appetizers will also impress the first timer.

Steve's Greek 617-267-1817 ***
316 Newbury, Boston, MA
This is a great Gyro spot that cost as much as a walk up stand but you get the sit down atmosphere.  Tasty food and great price for Newbury.

Chef Chang's House 617-277-4226 **
1004 Beacon St Boston, MA
Everyone loves Chinese food and at Chef's you will not be let down.  Go there Mon-Sat for their lunch specials and for $6 you can get an entree, soup and sides, get the pork fried rice, mmm.

Pho Pasteur 617-451-0247 ***
123 Stuart St. Boston, MA
There may be a line here, it is small but authentic Pho Soup and other tasty rice dishes.  The proof is in the soup or broth and at Pho Pasteur it qualifies as good.  The fact that the place is clean really helps especially if you have been to Chinatown Boston you will know what I mean...  Meals are around $6

La Groceria Italian Restaurant ***
Right next to Yum's office this Italian spot is off the beaten path just a bit but worth the trip.  Their Garlic Bread Groceria and Ai Frutti Di Mare, seafood pasta is awesome.  The crabmeat sauce with cream make the dish worth coming back for.
